Life’s Fleeting Nature and Wildflower Funeral Concepts are proud to host Whatcom County’s first-ever Before I Die Festival, a free two-day event dedicated to demystifying death, encouraging open conversations, and inspiring participants to live more fully. The festival will take place on Saturday, November 1 and Sunday, November 2, from 1–5 PM at Wildflower Funeral Concepts, located at 5706 4th Ave, Ferndale, WA.
The Before I Die Festival blends education, creativity, and connection, offering participants the opportunity to reflect on life, learn about end-of-life options, and build community. Featuring local professionals, engaging workshops, live music, a film screening, and even wine-tasting, this unique event invites the public to explore topics we too often avoid.
Highlights include:
- Personal Death Reflection Exercise with educator Beck Littlefield
- Proactive Care Planning with Advanced Care Planning consultant Hilary Walker
- Threshold Choir Performance by the Bellingham Threshold Singers
- Wine About Mortality social with wine and guided conversation prompts
- Beyond the Final Breath: Choices for the Body with Brian Flowers, Funeral Director at Wildflower
- What is an End-of-Life Doula? with Beck Littlefield
- Local End-of-Life Professionals Panel featuring experts in hospice, grief, VSED, MAID, and more
- Film Screening of The Last Ecstatic Days, a moving documentary about embracing death with intention
“This festival is about more than preparing for death — it’s about learning how to live more intentionally,” says Brian Flowers, owner of Wildflower Funeral Concepts. “We believe that by engaging with death, grief, and nature, we create more compassionate, connected communities.”
