It appears there really isn’t anything on the itinerary about planning for the lowest possible carbon footprint disposal of my remains. I want to know more about options for composting, which I am beginning to hear about; I know NPR recently discussed this. Are there any “organic” burial options in or near NM? As far as I can tell this entire event is mostly in support of the funeral industry and I’d love to learn I’m wrong.
Hi Tammy:
We do have an event discussing green burial in New Mexico. Check out “Jewish Burial Equals Green Burial” at the JCC on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m. We will have representatives from La Puerta Natural Burial Ground south of Belen there to discuss how we can lower our carbon footprint with our disposition options.
