Tour of the casket building workshop of the nonprofit organization Fathers Building Futures. Lunch is included in this free event. Fathers Building Futures is located at 4301 4th Street NW, Albuquerque.

Fathers Building Futures is an economic development initiative that provides jobs and skills to parents who have been incarcerated. It offers their families opportunities for stability – financially, socially and emotionally. In their woodworking shop, employees build simple pine and kosher caskets of their own unique design, wooden cremation urns, and household items such as cutting boards, Lazy Susans, furniture, and boxes.

Here’s a brief overview of how Fathers Building Futures came to make caskets.
